Providing Fire, Rescue and Medical First Response services to Rawdon District and surrounding areas.
Since 1971, Rawdon District Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the communities in the Rawdon Hills as part of the East Hants Fire Service.
More than 40 years later, the Department has 28 members and 3 vehicles to provide direct and mutual aid emergency services.
Rawdon Fire is routinely requested to provide assistance to neighbouring departments and communities,
such as Gore and Kennetcook. The Department also works with the RCMP, EHS and DNR, depending on the nature of the call.
RDVFD took delivery of its new Rescue truck, from Port Williams NS based Lantz Truck Body, in January 2014. After fully equipping the cabinets it is now in active service. The new truck '831' is a 2013 Dodge 5500 4x4 with a 12 foot walkaround box, with seating for 5 firefighters and onboard scba refilling capabilities.
Rawdon District Community Hall
Located above the Fire Hall, the community center has been hosting functions such as dances, auctions and weddings as well as the Fire Department's annual Winter Carnival and Summer Fun days. A series of upgrades will see the hall
able to provide even greater service for the coming years.
